The river was swollen from heavy rain.<\/p>\n

Brown\u00a0water churned violently below, crashing against stone walls and carrying debris downstream. The current moved with force\u2014loud, relentless, unforgiving.<\/p>\n

And on a narrow ledge just inches above that raging water stood a small dog.<\/p>\n

His paws trembled against the slick rock. The surface was steep and uneven. There was nowhere to run. Nowhere to climb.<\/p>\n
