During his four nights in the freezing sewer, the dog relied on the kindness of nearby residents who dropped food and water through the metal grate. They continuously contacted emergency services, hoping for a professional rescue to free him from the suffocating confinement.

When the Civil Defense team finally arrived, they faced a daunting task. The dog was wedged tightly between the sewer walls, and rescuers needed to break through the concrete above him, a process that would create loud, frightening vibrations in the darkness.

A rescuer reached into the narrow space, providing comfort to the terrified animal while assuring him of their presence. After precise strikes shattered the concrete enough to create a larger opening, the rescue team pulled the frightened dog into the daylight.

Once free, the dog’s shaky legs struggled to support him, but he was quickly given clean water to wash away the metallic taste of his ordeal. He was then transported to the Seccional Segunda police station, where he received warmth and care.

The days of cold and fear have ended, but the journey for this resilient survivor continues as he awaits a loving family to serve as his guiding eyes.
